Eight senior officers of the Sierra Leone Postal Services (Salpost) have returned home after successfully completing a two week intensive training course at the Nigeria Postal Institute, Egor, Benin City from the 10th – 21st March 2014.

The training which was organized by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in collaboration with the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) attracted other postal managers from The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria.

According to one of the participants, Mrs. Alwaynne Faulkner the ICT Manager of Salpost the theme of the course was ‘DRIVE’ an acronym which stands for Deliver, Result, Value and Efficiency that is symbolic to the activities of the post.

Mrs. Faulkner said that the course had its key objective to grow the trainees’ capacity to highest expertise in the postal industry and to develop in trainees the managerial ability to identify needs for changes to transit the work to world best practices.

She explained that the course covered various topics including general postal administration, international mail processing, international postal accounting (terminal dues, indemnities and enquires etc).

The participants went through other topics such as track and trace, letters and parcel, quality of service, EMS and philately and customs duty. She noted that the course was very interesting adding that with the knowledge they have acquired it will help to boost the effective operations of Salpost.

The other participants were Mr Abdul Rahman Munu QSF Project Manager, Mrs. Margaret Moifula Ag Financial Controller, Mrs Salamatu Artho EMS Customer Care, Mr. Abayomi Cole, OC Parcels, Mr. Momoh Bangura Post Executive Officer, Mr Ahmed Kemoh Financial Accountant and Mr. Augustine B. Mansaray Registration.
